Embryo Freezing is the process of freezing high-quality embryos obtained during in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment—but not transferred at that time—in liquid nitrogen at -196°C to halt their development and preserve them for years without losing their viability.

The Miracle of Vitrification (Ultra-Rapid Freezing)

In older, slow-freezing methods, ice crystals could form inside the cells, potentially damaging the cell membrane. In contrast, the vitrification technique currently used at our center freezes embryos by rapidly transitioning them into the glassy phase within seconds. As a result, the survival rate of embryos after thawing exceeds 98%.

Advantages of Frozen Embryo Transfer

  • Restored Uterine Environment: The negative effects of the high hormone levels used during the egg development process on the uterine lining subside; the uterus is prepared to its ideal condition for transfer during the natural cycle.
  • Eliminating the Risk of OHSS: In women at risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), the treatment is split into phases to ensure the mother’s health.
  • Investment in the Future: If a second or third child is desired years later, only the transfer procedure is required—without the need for another egg retrieval or injection treatment.
  • Option for Genetic Testing: Embryos to be analyzed via PGT are frozen and held until the results are available.
